Cloud Computing Snapshot

In three starts, Cloud Computing has one first, one second and one third in terms of showings. His running style is that of a press the pace/stalker and his pedigree includes Maclean’s Music, Quick Temper by A.P. Indy. Cloud Computing has yet to run in a Grade 1 race, but he’s also never finished outside the money. He won a Maiden Special Weight on February 11, placed second in the Grade 3 Gotham on March 4, and finished third behind Irish War Cry and Battalion Runner in the Grade 2 Wood Memorial on April 8.

Gunnevera Snapshot

Gunnevera received some attention as a live long shot heading into the Kentucky Derby, but he disappointed in his seventh-place finish at Churchill Downs. Jockey Javier Castellano noted that Gunnevera did not like the wet track. Could things change on the fast track at Pimlico Race Course this evening? It’s possible. He finished third in the Grade 1 Florida Derby in early April, won the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth, and placed second in the Grade 2 Holy Bull. With 10 starts under his belt, Gunnevera is chockfull of experience. The problem is that he’s finished a combined 19 3/4 lengths behind Always Dreaming in his two most recent starts.

Preakness Stakes Prediction

This is good spot to take the more experienced Gunnevera over a lightly-raced Cloud Computing. Cloud Computing has never raced outside of Aqueduct and is making a huge leap in competition. Gunnevera did disappoint in the Kentucky Derby, but I’m willing to bet that he’ll improve on that performance on Saturday and finish ahead of Cloud Computing.
