The race for gold in Women’s Hockey looks to be between two teams at the 2018 Olympics. Here’s a look at the latest odds.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the United States is listed as a -120 favorite to walk away with the gold medal. Canada is listed with even odds of +100 to win the gold while Finland comes in with the third-shortest odds at +1600. The Winter Olympics will take place Feb. 9-25 from South Korea.
The United States and Canada are actually in Group A together, so they will face off during pool play on Feb. 15. The USA won the first gold medal in this sport in 1998, but they haven’t claimed gold since, winning silver three times and bronze once. The US has won seven of the last eight World Championships.
Canada has won the last four Olympic gold medals in women’s hockey after earning silver in the 1998 games. Canada has finished second to the US in seven of the last eight World Championships, but they have never finished worse than second in the World Championships or Olympics.
Finland is in Group A as well, making it a tough run through pool play. Finland has won the bronze twice in Olympic play, taking the medal in 1998 and 2010. It finished fifth in the 2014 games. They have never finished better than third in the World Championships, which they did in 2017 and 2015, most recently.
