Listed right behind Gun Runner are Mor Spirit at 7/1, Destin and Outwork at 12/1, respectively, and Creator at 14/1.
A Snapshot: Owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and Three Chimneys Farm and trained by Steve Asmussen, Gun Runner earned 151 points in this year’s standings. In five starts he’s won four times with zero second-place and no third-place showings. Gun Runner has earned $906,920 in his career, which amounts to $181,384 per start. His pedigree is Candy Ride – Quiet Giant, by Giant’s Causeway and has a “stalking” running style. Florent Geroux is Gun Runner’s jockey.
Why Bet Gun Runner: Because he catapulted to the top of the Road to the Kentucky Derby Leaderboard with back-to-back wins in the Grade 2 Veterans Ford Risen Star Stakes and the Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby (which he won by a 4 1/2 length runaway).
