Exaggerator favored to win Belmont Stakes
With Nyquist out of the field, Preakness Stakes winner Exaggerator is currently favored to win the 2016 Belmont Stakes on June 8.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Exaggerator has odds of 11/10 to win the Belmont Stakes in a couple of weeks. Suddenbreakingnews, who ran in the Kentucky Derby but was held out of the Preakness, has the next-best odds at 7/1.
Cherry Wine, who was the runner-up in the Preakness Stakes, is 8/1 to win the Belmont Stakes and Stradivari, who finished fourth at Pimlico, is 9/1 to win. Destin, who finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby and was held out of the Preakness, also has 9/1 odds while Brody’s Cause, Lani and Unified are all 14/1, respectively. Mo Tom is 16/1 and Creator has the longest odds to win the Belmont Stakes at 22/1.
Exaggerator has been nothing short of sensational in his career, not to mention consistent. In nine career stakes races he’s finished outside the money only once, which came in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile last year when he finished fourth. His wins came in the Saratoga Special, the Delta Downs Jackpot, the Santa Anita Derby and of course, on the sloppy track at Pimlico when he ended Nyquist’s bid to win the Triple Crown this year.
