Far Right Kentucky Derby Preview
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) – After finishing as the runner up in the Arkansas Derby, Far Right will look to contend in the money in Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, Far Right is a 33/1 long shot to win the 2015 Kentucky Derby, giving him the same odds as El Kabeir and Itsaknockout. American Pharoah is the current favorite at 9/4, while Dortmund has comparable odds at 9/2.
Far Right finished as the runner up to American Pharoah in this year’s Grade 1 Arkansas Derby and won both the Smarty Jones on January 19 and the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes. he also finished in the money at Street Sense (third) in October of last year, as well as in the Grade 3 Delta Downs (third) on November 22.
One draw to Far Right: Jockey Mike Smith. He won the Kentucky Derby in 2005 aboard Giacomo and finished second with Bodemeister behind I’ll Have Another in 2012. Last year his ride on Hoppertunity was scratched.
