Our Cardinals vs. Seahawks prediction starts with two quarterbacks who were not supposed to be starting this week. Seattle turns to Drew Lock with Sam Darnold ruled out, while Arizona hands the job to Gardner Minshew after his comeback relief effort in Dallas. The Seahawks sit at -8.5 at Lumen Field, down from an opening number of -11. The total has fallen from 44.5 to 39.5. Below, we break down the injury report, the market move and the two plays we like best.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks Betting Preview
The quarterback news shapes everything here. Darnold is out with quad and rib injuries suffered in Seattle’s 34-17 Monday night loss to Chicago. That pushes Lock into the lineup. However, Lock is no ordinary healthy backup. He has dealt with a right elbow problem since mid-October, was limited in practice all week and sat inactive for the past two games. He carries no game-status designation, and Lock told reporters his elbow is feeling much better and that he expects to take every rep.
Lock has already beaten this opponent. He threw three touchdown passes to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in Seattle’s 31-7 rout in Glendale on September 20. Seattle has now won 10 straight in the series. Still, the Seahawks are 4-4 and have dropped three of their last four, including close road losses at San Francisco and Denver.
Arizona arrives at 3-5 and riding some momentum. Minshew was named the starter after replacing a benched Jacoby Brissett with the Cardinals trailing Dallas 17-3. He went 17-of-23 for 188 yards and three touchdowns, and Arizona won 33-30 in overtime. Minshew is 30 and signed on a one-year deal. Rookie Carson Beck is now the backup.
The injury report hits Seattle harder. Left tackle Charles Cross, left guard Quenton Nelson, defensive tackle Leonard Williams, edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu and receiver Rashid Shaheed are all out. Arizona is without left tackle Jayden Williams, Jon Gaines II and running back Bam Knight. Cornerback Max Melton, defensive tackle Walter Nolen III and guard Isaiah Adams are questionable.

Cardinals vs. Seahawks Prediction — Who Protects Drew Lock’s Blind Side?
Seattle will play without its starting left tackle and left guard. That leaves a quarterback with a sore throwing elbow behind a patched-together left side. Meanwhile, the Seahawks lose two key pieces of their pass rush in Leonard Williams and Nwosu. That gives Minshew more time than Arizona’s quarterbacks usually get in this building. In addition, Seattle has struggled to separate from anyone lately. Its last four games were decided by three, three, 17 and 17 points. Only the 20-3 win over Kansas City went its way. Seattle is just 2-4-2 against the spread this season and 1-2-2 at home, while Arizona is 4-0 ATS as a road underdog.
The market agrees with the direction. The spread opened at 11 and now sits at 8.5, even though 56% of spread tickets are on Seattle. That move followed the news that Darnold would sit, so it is not pure reverse line movement. Still, the number kept drifting toward Arizona while most bettors backed the favorite. The best of that value is gone, since the opener sat above the key margin of 10. However, 8.5 still covers a seven-point or eight-point Seattle win, and in a game totaled at 39.5, that cushion is large.
The case against is real. Seattle is 9-1 ATS in its last 10 meetings with Arizona, and Lock carved this defense up in September. Arizona allowed 45 points to Detroit and 30 in regulation to Dallas, and it plays without its own left tackle. Minshew also came off the bench in Dallas, so that defense had not prepared for him. A full week of film is a different test. This is a lean, not a strong play.
The Pick: Cardinals +8.5 (-110)
Cardinals vs. Seahawks Prediction — Why Does the Passing Market Disagree With Itself?
The prop board prices both quarterbacks almost identically on their yardage ladders. Lock to throw for 200 or more sits at -135, a 57.4% break-even, while Minshew sits at -120, or 54.5%. At 225 or more, Lock is +135 and Minshew is +145, which implies 42.6% and 40.8%. That is a gap of only a few yards in their projected medians. Yet the head-to-head Most Passing Yards market makes Lock a clear -148 favorite, implying 59.7%. Minshew needs to win only 46.7% of the time to break even.
Game script supports Minshew too. As an 8.5-point underdog, Arizona projects to throw late, while a leading Seattle team can lean on its backfield and protect Lock’s elbow. Lock also works behind two backup starters on the left side. Minshew produced 188 yards in roughly a half against Dallas, which points to a ceiling well above 200 over a full game. Lock, by contrast, has been inactive for the last two games, so his rhythm is another unknown. The risk is that Seattle falls behind and has to throw, or that Arizona gets a lead and runs. This pick shares an input with the first one, since both lean on Lock’s elbow and Seattle’s line holding him back.
The Pick: Gardner Minshew Most Passing Yards (+114)
Our Final Word on Cardinals vs. Seahawks
We passed on the total. It has dropped five full points from the 44.5 opener, so the market has already priced in the quarterback downgrade and the depleted lines. Backing the Under now means paying for a move that already happened. On the other hand, the Over needs scoring from two offenses missing their starting left tackles. Neither side offers a fair price relative to the risk, and the first-half number of 20 tells the same story.
Both picks carry the same caveat. Lock’s elbow is the single largest unknown in this game, and the read changes if Seattle has to turn to Jalen Milroe. Before betting, check the inactive list 90 minutes before kickoff. For more on how both teams arrived here, revisit our Bears vs. Seahawks prediction and our Cardinals vs. Cowboys prediction from last week.
The Cardinals +8.5 (-110) leads because Seattle is missing two left-side starters and two pass rushers around an injured quarterback. Gardner Minshew Most Passing Yards (+114) follows because the head-to-head price makes Lock a much bigger favorite than the yardage ladders for both passers support.
