Virginia Cavaliers Game Notes

Anthony Colandrea completed 20 of 26 passes for 377 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during Saturday’s 36-35 loss to James Madison. He also had seven rushes for -30 yards. Colandrea made the most of his first collegiate start, throwing for 377 yards and two scores as the Cavaliers were defeated by James Madison on Saturday. The true freshman quarterback was excellent in his first full appearance after replacing the injured Tony Muskett in Week 1. With Muskett (shoulder) expected to return for Friday’s matchup with Maryland, Colandrea will likely retreat to his backup role moving forward.

Maryland Terps Game Notes

Taulia Tagovailoa was 25-for-36 passing for 287 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during Saturday’s 38-20 victory versus Charlotte. Tagovailoa bounced back after tossing a pick-six on the Terrapins’ first play from scrimmage Saturday. While he did cough up another turnover in the red zone during the third quarter, the third-year starting quarterback finished with over 250 passing yards for the second week in a row, and he’s now averaged 7.9 yards per attempt so far this season. Tagovailoa tossed 51 touchdowns to 26 interceptions through the first three seasons of his career, so it’s fair to expect some more turnover-laden performances while playing in a very tough Big Ten East conference this season.

Virginia vs. Maryland Betting Prediction

Give me the over. Virginia’s passing game started to click last week against James Madison when the Cavaliers put 35 points on the board. Their defense hasn’t been sharp, especially against the run, but that’s good for us tonight when betting the over. Granted, Maryland hasn’t played anyone yet, but the Terps are about to turn it on offensively.
