Tamar Bates posted four points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal over 17 minutes during Saturday’s 71-68 victory over Illinois. Bates had shown some scoring potential from the bench but has averaged 2.8 points per game over his last eight contests after scoring 17 points in a Jan. 22 win over Michigan State. He’ll need to step up soon if the Hoosiers are to get support from the bench in the final weeks of the season.
