No. 16 Penn State has only one loss on the season, which came last week in Ann Arbor. Will the Nittany Lions avoid another defeat in conference play when they host Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. ET?

Minnesota Golden Gophers Game Notes

Tanner Morgan (upper body) is making the trip to Penn State but his playing status for Saturday’s game remains unknown, Randy Johnson of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Morgan departed last week’s loss to Illinois after suffering an apparent upper-body injury and was unable to return. It’s encouraging to see him traveling with the team, but it’s unclear how much he’s been able to practice this week. His final status will likely be revealed shortly before kickoff, with Athan Kaliakmanis waiting in the wings in case Morgan is unable to go.

Penn State Nittany Lions Game Notes

Sean Clifford (upper body) participated in Penn State’s practice Wednesday, Jon Sauber of the State College Centre Daily Times reports. Clifford exited last Saturday’s game versus Michigan with an upper-body injury but returned to practice Wednesday. His return is a good sign for Clifford’s availability versus Minnesota on Saturday.

Minnesota vs. Penn State Betting Prediction

Given the uncertainty surrounding both starting quarterbacks, the smart play in my opinion is to roll with the under tonight at Beaver Stadium. The under is 3-0-1 in the Golden Gophers’ last four conference games, is 4-1-1 in their last six games versus an opponent with a winning record and is 5-2-1 in their last eight games overall. The under is also 6-1 in the Nittany Lions’ last seven home games, is 12-3-1 in their last 16 games coming off a loss and is 15-5-1 in their last 21 games following an ATS loss.
