Foles signs extension with Rams
ST. LOUIS, MO (The Spread) – Despite not taking a snap in a regular season game for them, the Rams have signed Nick Foles to a contract extension.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Foles’ new deal is for two years at $24.5 million. The extension runs through 2017 and contains just under $14 million in guaranteed money. Foles will be under contract through his age-28 season and will hit the open market again when he’s 29, which is a good deal if he can prove that he can succeed outside of Chip Kelly’s system.
The Rams acquired Foles this offseason in exchange for quarterback Sam Bradford and draft-pick compensation. Jeff Fisher and company have been desperate for reliable quarterback play after Bradford suffered multiple injury-plagued seasons in St. Louis. The Rams have a defense built to win now but the offense has plenty of question marks, from an inexperienced offensive line to Foles’ ability to bounce back from a shaky 2014 campaign.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Rams are 45/1 to win the 2016 Super Bowl and 25/1 to win the NFC Conference Championship this upcoming season.
