MONTREAL (AP) – Carey Price made 29 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 on Tuesday night.
Lars Eller, Alex Galchenyuk and Tomas Plekanec scored for Montreal (11-4-1), which has won three games in a row.
Ondrej Pavelec made 24 saves for Winnipeg (8-6-2).
Eller scored the opener and game-winner for Montreal at 2:21 of the second period. The third-line center was at the right place at the right time after newcomer Jiri Sekac drove hard to the net. Pavelec stick-checked the puck right to Eller, who backhanded it into a gaping net.
It marks the fifth time Montreal has scored first this season. The Canadiens are 5-0-0 when they get the first goal.
