CINCINNATI, OH (The Spread) – Will the Bengals improve to 3-0 on the new year or will the Titans pull off the upset when the two teams clash at 1:00PM ET today?
TENNESSEE: After pulling off an impressive upset of the Chiefs in Kansas City in the opening week of the season, the Titans dropped to 1-1 with a lousy effort in a 26-10 loss to the Cowboys at home as a 3-point favorite last Sunday. Jake Locker was 18-of-34 for 234 yards and a touchdown but he threw two interceptions in the loss as he continues to be inconsistent. Delanie Walker was the highlight, catching 10-of-14 targets for 142 yards with a touchdown, but his effort wasn’t enough as Tennessee is now 1-1 on the year and 1-1 against the spread.
CINCINNATI: The Bengals improved to 2-0 with a dominating 24-10 win over the Falcons in Week 2. The final score should have been more lopsided by kicker Mike Nugent missed three field goals throughout the game. It didn’t matter, however, as Andy Dalton completed 15-of-23 passes for 252 yards with one touchdown to Mohamed Sanu, who caught a 76-yard touchdown reception after cornerback Robert Alford gambled and lost in coverage. Running back Gio Bernard also added 90 yards on 27 carries with one touchdown while rookie Jeremy Hill added 74 yards on 15 carries and a score in the win.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bengals are 7-point favorites after opening as 6-point favorites, while the total opened at 44 and has moved down to 42.5.
