Texans vs. Giants Free Pick
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – Will the Texans hand the hapless Giants their third consecutive loss to start the 2014 NFL season when the two teams clash at 1:00PM ET?
HOUSTON: The Texans improved to 2-0 on the year with a 30-14 victory over the Raiders as a 3-point road favorite last week in Oakland. Arian Foster rushed for 138 yards on 28 carries with one touchdown while Andre Johnson caught 6-of-7 targets for 74 yards and rookie DeAndre Hopkins scored on a 12-yard pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick. Houston has successfully covered the spread in both of its games to start the new season.
NEW YORK: The Giants backed up their pitiful performance on Monday night in Detroit with another lousy finish against the Cardinals last Sunday. With their 25-14 loss, the G-Men are now 0-2 straight up and 0-2 against the spread. Eli Manning did throw two touchdown passes on 26-of-39 passing with 277 yards, but he also threw two interceptions in the loss. Tight end Larry Donnell has emerged as the Giants’ leading receiver after catching seven passes for 81 yards. No offense to Donnell but with Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle on the roster, it’s an issue that he continues to be Manning’s go-to guy.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, this game is a pick’em and the total is currently sitting at 41.5 points. The Giants opened as 1-point favorites but the line has moved down, while the total opened at 41.5 and has stayed at that number.
NFL FREE PICK: Take the over. According to latest NFL trends, the over is 6-0 in the Texans’ last six games following a win, 6-2 in their last eight games in September and 4-1 in their last five games following a straight up win. The over is also 5-2 in the Giants’ last seven games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
2014 NFL WEEK 3 FREE PICK: TEXANS/GIANTS OVER 41.5
