Falcons vs. Bengals Free Pick
CINCINNATI, OH (The Spread) – One of the more intriguing Week 2 matchups in the NFL takes place at 1:00PM ET today when the Bengals host the Falcons in a battle of 1-0 teams.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Bengals are 5.5-point favorites over the Falcons while the over/under total is currently sitting at 48.5 points. Cincinnati opened as 5-point favorites in this game before the line went up, while the total opened at 48 before being bumped up as well.
The Falcons took the Saints to overtime in Week 1, beating their NFC South rivals 37-34 in a wild shootout. Matt Ryan put on a clinic in the victory, throwing for 448 yards on 31-of-43 passing and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Atlanta’s defense wasn’t good throughout but safety William Moore made the play of the game in overtime when he knocked the ball out of Marques Colston’s hands to set up a fumble and subsequent Matt Bryant game-winning field goal.
The Bengals blew a fourth-quarter lead last Sunday in Baltimore only to come back and beat the Ravens 23-16 as a 1-point road underdog. Andy Dalton threw for 301 yards and a touchdown on 25-of-38 passing, while receiver A.J. Green caught six passes for 131 yards and a score in the victory.
NFL FREE PICK: Take the over. According to latest NFL trends, the over is 4-0 in the Falcons’ last four games in September, 4-1 in their last five games in Week 2 and 7-0 in their last seven games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous contest. On the other side, the over is 5-1 in the Bengals’ last six home games dating back to last year, 4-1 in their last five games versus a team with a winning record and 7-2 in their last nine games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous contest. Both of these offenses are capable of putting up points and given how bad Atlanta’s defense is, this one shouldn’t have any issues sailing over the total.
