The Pacers come into the series as the top seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Hawks are the No. 8 seed. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Pacers are the clear favorite to win the series, as they have odds of -650 to win, while the Hawks have a money line of +480 to prevail.

Indiana went 56-26 on the season to win the Central Division. The Pacers were 35-6 at home, 21-20 on the road and 38-14 in the Eastern Conference. The 35 home wins is most of any NBA team and the 38 conference wins is best in the East. Indiana scored 96.7 points per game while holding opponents to 92.3 points per contest.

Atlanta was just 38-44 this season, but still earned the final playoff spot. They are the only playoff team with a sub .500 record. The Hawks were 24-17 at home and 14-27 on the road while going 28-24 in conference play. The 14 road wins are worst of any playoff team. Atlanta averaged 101 points per game while the defense allowed 101.5 points per contest.

These two teams met four times during the regular season, but the Hawks still won two of the four games, including a win at Indiana late in the season. Indiana has won six of its last 10 against the Hawks, but the Hawks are 4-3-1 against the spread in their last eight against Indiana.
