SOCHI, RUSSIA (The Spread) – Following the qualifications for the Quarterfinals round in this year’s Olympics, here’s an update of the gold medal odds in ice hockey.
In the qualification games on Wednesday, Sweden beat Slovenia 5-0 before Finland shocked Russia 3-1. Canada then beat Latvia 2-1 in a competitive game before the United States crushed the Czech Republic, 5-2.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Canada remains favored to win the gold medal in ice hockey at 8/5 odds, while the United States has the next-best odds at 9/5. Sweden is 16/5, while Finland has the worst odds out of the four at 13/2.
Friday Sweden will take on Finland in the semifinal round at 7:00AM ET while the U.S. will battle Canada at 12:00PM ET. Sweden has opened as a -170 money line favorite over Finland, who is +140 on the ML, while the over/under total for this matchup is currently sitting at 4.5 goals. Canada, meanwhile, is -115 versus the United States, which is -105. The total for the Canada-U.S. game is 5.5.
The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics concludes this weekend and the final hockey match will take place at 10:00PM ET on Saturday.
