According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Ohio State is the clear favorite to win the Big Ten, as the Buckeyes have odds of -110 to win. Other short odds to win are Michigan (+500), Northwestern (+600) and Nebraska (+700).
Ohio State has won the Big Ten title 34 times in program history. The last title came in the 2009 season. The Buckeyes went 12-0 last season, but couldn’t contend for postseason play. This year’s team returns 14 starters.
Michigan has won the Big Ten title 42 times, with the last title coming in 2004. The Wolverines went 8-5 in the 2012 season and the team returns 13 starters for the 2013 season.
Northwestern has won the Big Ten title eight times in program history, with the last title coming in 2000. The Wildcats went 10-3 in 2012 and the team returns 17 starters for this season.
Nebraska has never won the Big Ten title, but is in just its third year of Big Ten play. The Cornhuskers lost in the conference championship game last year. Nebraska went 10-4 last season and the Cornhuskers return 12 starters this season.
