Redskins vs. Rams Week 2 Odds
ST. LOUIS, MO (The Spread) – RGIII and the Redskins will look to go 2-0 on the young season and they’ll have a good shot to do so when they play a banged up Rams team at 4:25PM ET on Sunday.
WASHINGTON: Robert Griffin III couldn’t have had a better start to his career. In the Redskins’ 40-32 victory over the Saints in Week 1, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft passed for 320 yards, which was the fourth-highest total for a quarterback in his first start. The Redskins covered easily as a 9-point road underdog, while the combined score soared over the posted total of 50 points. Defensively the Redskins bruised and battered Drew Brees thanks to the pass rush that features Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan and Barry Coefield. The only negative to come out of the game is that Pierre Garcon hurt his foot and will be a game time decision this Sunday.
ST. LOUIS: The Rams nearly pulled off the upset of the week last Sunday in Detroit but eventually fell to the Lions, 27-23. Sam Bradford threw for 198 yards and a touchdown to Brandon Gibson, while Danny Amendola racked up 70 yards receiving and Steven Jackson rushed for just 53 yards on 21 carries. St. Louis’ defense picked Matthew Stafford off three times and looks like a much-improved unit. That said, the Rams’ offensive line is a huge issue, as starters Scott Wells (IR) and rookie Rok Watkins (ankle) are out. There’s a good chance that LT Rodger Saffold could play, but it wouldn’t be a shock if he were held out with a neck injury that he suffered a week ago.
ODDS: The Redskins opened as 3.5-point favorites but the spread has stayed at that number even though 87% of the betting public currently favors Washington. The total for this game is 44.5.
TRENDS: The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between these two teams while the underdog is 8-3 against the spread in the last 11 meetings. The Redskins are 5-2 against the spread in their last 17 games against the Rams in St. Louis but 1-4 in the last five meetings. The road team is also 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.
