Giants vs. Bucs Week 2 Odds
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – The Giants will look to rebound from their Week 1 loss when they host the Buccaneers at 1:00PM ET on Sunday.
TAMPA BAY: The Buccaneers pulled off a small upset against the Panthers in Week 1, beating Carolina 16-10 as a 3-point home underdog. Josh Freeman threw for only 138 yards but rookie Doug Martin rushed for 95 yards and the Tampa Bay defense held Carolina to just 16 first downs and 10 total rushing yards on 13 carries. The Bucs also forced two turnovers in Greg Schiano’s first NFL victory.
NEW YORK: The defending champions got off to a rough start to the 2012 season, dropping their home opener to the Cowboys 24-17 as a 3.5-point favorite. The Giants’ defense failed them on several big moments throughout the game as Tony Romo threw for 307 yards and DeMarco Murray rushed for 131 yards. Despite allowing Kevin Olgetree to catch two touchdowns earlier in the game, Dallas allowed Olgetree to catch a game-clinching first down with under two minutes remaining in the game. The Cowboys were then able to run off the clock to secure their first victory of the year.
ODDS: The Giants opened as 9-point home favorites over the Bucs and that’s where the spread currently sits as 68% of public bettors currently favor New York. The total for this game is 43.5.
TRENDS: The under is 7-0 in the last seven meetings between these two teams while the road squad is 3-1-1 against the spread in the last five meetings overall. The Buccaneers are also 0-4-1 against the number in their last five games against the Giants.
