Braves’ 2012 Season Odds
(The Spread) – Following their disastrous collapse in the final weeks of the 2011 season, the Braves are now looking ahead and are poised to challenge the Phillies in the NL East.
Oddsmakers currently list the Braves as +1500 mid-range long shots to win the 2012 World Series. They’re also +500 to win the National League East Division and +650 to win the National League Pennant, while their over/under total for number of wins this season is sitting at 86.5.
The Braves appeared to have a postseason spot all but locked up heading down the stretch of the 2011 season but they choked and allowed the eventual World Series champion Cardinals to sneak in. Tim Hudson led the team with a 3.22 ERA while Dan Uggla finished with team highs in home runs (36), RBI (82) and runs scored (88.)

This past winter the Braves signed infielder Josh Wilson, pitchers Adam Russell and Dusty Hughes, and outfielder Luis Durango. They also re-signed Martin Prado to a one-year deal and reached an agreement with infielder Jack Wilson on a one-year deal.
There’s no doubt that the Braves will challenge an aging Phillies team in the NL East. Led by Hudson, Tommy Hanson and Jair Juerrjens, the starting pitching is solid and the bullpen features 2011 NL Rookie of the Year Craig Kimbrel. If Jason Heyward can bounce back from his sophomore slump, the Braves’ offense certainly is good enough to take down the Phillies and the Marlins in the division.
