Texans vs. Ravens Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) – Despite their convincing victory over the Bengals in Wildcard Weekend, the Texans are heavy underdogs Sunday against the Ravens in the Divisional round.
HOUSTON: Arian Foster rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in the Texans’ 31-10 victory over the Bengals last Saturday. The Houston defense also racked up four sacks as it harassed rookie Andy Dalton into three interceptions (one of which was returned by defensive tackle J.J. Watt for a touchdown). The Texans finished the regular season with a 10-6 overall record and went 9-5-2 against the spread. They also covered as 3.5-point favorites last Saturday versus Cincinnati.
BALTIMORE: After finishing the regular season with a 12-4 record and becoming AFC North champions, the Ravens earned a first-round bye last week. Ray Rice led the team with 1,364 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, while quarterback Joe Flacco threw for 3,610 yards and Terrell Suggs finished with a team-high 14 sacks. The Ravens covered the spread in eight of their 16 games season, with one push (a 31-24 victory over the Bengals on November 20.)
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Ravens as 9-point favorites over the Texans for Sunday’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 36.5 points. Houston enters the day at 11-6 overall and 5-3 on the road, while Baltimore is 12-4 overall and 8-0 at home this season.
TRENDS: The Texans are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games versus the Ravens but the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams. Houston is also 3-0-1 ATS in its last four games as an underdog and 4-1 ATS in its last five road games. The Ravens, meanwhile, are 4-1 ATS in their last five playoff games as a favorite and 5-0-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
