Oddsmakers have made Alabama the favorite in Mondayโ€™s game, giving the Crimson Tide a point spread of -2 against the LSU Tigers. The over/under total for the championship game has been set at 40 points. (View Matchup)

Currently over 62,400 Public Bets have been placed on this game and LSU is getting 65% of the public wagers with odds of +2 points against Alabama on Monday night. Opening odds actually had LSU as the favorite, with a spread of -1.5 points. It was understandable for LSU to be the favorite given the 9-6 win over Alabama back in November. But, in just a few days the odds moved to even and a week later, Alabama began to emerge as a favorite in the game. Perhaps oddsmakers saw the first game as a fluke with Alabama missing four field goals.

LSU went 13-0 on the season and 8-0 in the SEC. The Tigers were 10-3 against the spread this year including 6-0 ATS on the road. LSU was 4-0 ATS this year on turf as well. The Tigers were the favorite in all games this season aside from the meeting with Alabama. The only times that LSU failed to cover the spread were in games with lofty spreads. Each of the failed covers came with a line of 29.5 points or more. LSU was 4-0 ATS in games with a point spread of 5.5 points or less.

Alabama went 11-1 this season and 7-1 in the SEC. The Crimson Tide was 8-4 against the spread overall and 4-1 ATS on the road. Alabama covered in its lone game on turf as well. Alabama was the favorite in every game it played this season. Aside from LSU, Alabamaโ€™s failed covers came with spreads of 17.5 points or more. The Tide has only had two games with a spread of 5.5 points or less as they went 1-1 ATS in those games.
