2012 NFL Playoffs on CBS: Steelers vs. Broncos Wildcard Weekend Odds

Steelers vs. Broncos Playoff Odds

DENVER, CO (The Spread) – It what figures to be a low-scoring affair, the Denver Broncos will host the Pittsburgh Steelers at 4:30PM ET in the Wildcard round of the 2012 NFL Playoffs.

PITTSBURGH: The Steelers won six of their final seven games during the regular season but they’re not exactly steamrolling into the postseason. They’ve managed to score just 57 points in their last four games, which includes a 27-point effort over the hapless Rams. Ben Roethlisberger suffered a high ankle sprain in a Week 14 win over the Browns and Pittsburgh’s offense has been in a funk ever since. Losing leading rusher Rashard Mendenhall to a season-ending knee injury certainly hasn’t helped matters. Still, the Steelers are defending AFC champions and at 12-4, they had a fantastic season.

DENVER: Despite losing three straight games to close out the regular season, the Broncos won the AFC West and clinched a playoff berth because the Raiders couldn’t beat the Chargers in Week 17. The Broncos are coming off a pitiful performance against the Chiefs in which they managed just a field goal in an ugly 7-3 loss at home versus the Chiefs. Denver finished the year with an 8-8 record and was 7-9 against the spread, but you just never know what Tim Tebow is capable of if the game is close in the fourth quarter. Plus, Denver’s defense has been lights out this season, so maybe John Fox’s team has one more trick up its sleeve.
