NFL Week 17 Opening Odds
(The Spread) – This is it: Week 17 in the NFL. Last chance for teams in both conferences to secure a playoff berth or improve their position before the postseason starts next weekend.
There are four divisions that have yet to be decided heading into the final week: the AFC North, AFC West, NFC East and NFC South (which could be decided tonight if the Saints beat the Falcons on Monday Night Football).
In the AFC West, the Broncos currently own a tie-breaker (best win percentage in common games) over the Raiders, so if the playoffs were to start tomorrow Denver would be the fifth seed in the conference. But the playoffs don’t start tomorrow and thus, this weekend’s games are huge for the division. Both the Raiders and Broncos are at home this Sunday, as Denver hosts Kansas City at 4:15PM ET and Oakland hosts San Diego at the same time. The Broncos have opened as 3-point favorites over the Chiefs while the Raiders, who may have Darren McFadden back this week, are 3-point favorites over the Chargers. If both teams win, Denver gets in. If Denver loses and Oakland wins, the Raiders are in.

There’s nothing complicated about the NFC East race. Whichever team wins this Sunday in New York between the Cowboys and Giants will win the division and clinch the fourth seed in the NFC. The Giants are currently 3-point favorites over the Cowboys after beating Dallas 34-31 just a few weeks ago. The over/under total for Sunday’s game is currently sitting at 47.5 points.
In the AFC North, the Ravens and Steelers are both tied with 11-4 records, but Baltimore holds a tiebreaker over Pittsburgh because of head-to-head play. The Steelers would have to beat the Browns on Sunday and have the Ravens lose to the Bengals to win the division. The Ravens are 2.5-point favorites over the Bengals, while the spread between Pittsburgh and Cleveland has yet to be released.
