2011 NFL Odds: Rams vs. Steelers Spread & Total for Week 16

Rams vs. Steelers Week 16 Odds

PITTSBURGH, PA (The Spread) – With the AFC North up for grabs, the Steelers can’t afford to slip up against the hapless Rams this Saturday.

ST. LOUIS: The Rams were as inept last Sunday as they have been for most of the season. They scored just 13 points at home against the Bengals, who eventually went on to win the game, 20-13. Kellen Clemens wasn’t that bad filling in for an injured Sam Bradford as he completed 25-of-36 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown. But Steven Jackson (18 carries, 71 yards) never got going and the Rams failed to generate big plays. The loss was the Rams’ fifth in a row and it dropped their record to 2-12 on the year. They’re now 2-11-1 against the spread and have failed to cover in their five-game losing streak.

PITTSBURGH: The Steelers had an opportunity to jump ahead of the Ravens in the AFC North and put themselves in position to secure a bye in the first round of the playoffs, but they sputtered in San Francisco on Monday night. Chances are quarterback Ben Roethlisberger won’t play on Saturday given how poorly he played against the 49ers earlier this week. He’s clearly hampered by the high ankle injury that he suffered two weeks ago and it’s foolish for Pittsburgh to play him against a hapless St. Louis opponent. That said, the Steelers are still battling the Ravens in the division so if Big Ben feels good, then maybe he will lace ‘em up this weekend. Stay tuned.

ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Steelers as 15.5-point favorites over the Rams for Saturday’s game, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 37.5 points. St. Louis enters the week with a 2-12 overall record and is 1-6 on the road this year while Pittsburgh is 10-4 overall and 6-1 at home.

TRENDS: The Rams are 1-8 against the spread in their last nine road games and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. They’re also 1-6-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss. The Steelers are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss and 6-2-1 ATS in their lat nine games in Week 16. That said, Pittsburgh is just 1-4 ATS in its last five games versus a team with a losing record.
