Jaguars vs. Falcons Week 15 Odds
ATLANTA, GA (The Spread) – The Falcons are closing in on a playoff spot in the NFC so they can ill-afford to slip up tonight when they host the Jaguars on the NFL Network.
JACKSONVILLE: The Jaguars snapped their three-game losing streak with an impressive (and perhaps, unlikely) 41-14 victory over the Buccaneers. Jacksonville has had trouble scoring 14 points a game, nevertheless 41 so the Jags’ offensive output was rather surprising. The victory raised Jacksonville’s record to 4-9 on the year and 5-7-1 against the spread. Maurice Jones-Drew leads the team with 10 touchdowns and 1,222 rushing yards while rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert has thrown for 1,783 passing yards.
ATLANTA: The Falcons overcame a 23-7 halftime deficit in Carolina last Sunday to beat the Panthers, 31-23. In the victory Matt Ryan threw four touchdown passes, including two to rookie Julio Jones. Ryan now has 3,474 passing yards on the year while Michael Turner has 1,068 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. The victory improved Atlanta’s record to 8-5 on the year and its ATS record to 5-7-1. If the playoffs were to start today, the Falcons would own the fifth seed in the NFC but as previously noted, there’s no time for them to slip with other teams on their heels in the conference.
ODDS: Oddsmakers have installed the Falcons as an 11-point favorite over the Jaguars, while the over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 42.5 points. Jacksonville enters the game with a 4-9 overall record and is 1-5 on the road, while Atlanta is 8-5 overall and 4-2 at home.
TRENDS: The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams and is also 6-0 in the Jaguars’ last six road games. The under is 5-0 in the Falcons’ last five home games and 6-1 in their last seven games as a favorite. The Jaguars are just 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games as a road underdog while the Falcons are 20-8-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
