2011 NFL Week 14 Betting Odds & Spread: Patriots vs. Redskins

Patriots vs. Redskins Odds

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Spread) – The New England Patriots look to stay atop the AFC on Sunday when they take on the Washington Redskins at 1PM ET on Sunday on CBS.

NEW ENGLAND: The Patriots are coming off a 31-24 win over the Colts last week to extend their current winning streak to four games. Three of the four wins in the streak have come against losing teams. The Patriots are 4-2 on the road this season and 7-5 against the spread. The Pats have hit the over in 7 of 12 games and they are third in the NFL in scoring at 30.2 points per game. Despite the lack of much of a running game, New England averages 316.6 passing yards per game, led by Tom Brady, who has thrown for 3,916 yards and 30 touchdowns on the season while also giving up 10 interceptions. The Patriots defense is giving up 20.6 points per game and 412 yards of total offense per contest, which ranks last in the NFL.

WASHINGTON: The Redskins are coming off a 34-19 loss to the Jets at home last week and they have now lost 7 of their last 8 after starting the year 3-1. The Redskins are 2-4 at home on the year and 5-7 against the spread while hitting the under in 7 of their 12 games. Washington has struggled on offense, as they average 16.8 points and 320 yards per game, but are rushing for just 87.5 yards per game, which ranks second to last in the NFL. Their leading rusher this season is rookie Roy Helu, who has just 456 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Washington is giving up 21.3 points per game and 317 total yards per contest. Washington has held opponents to only 208 passing yards per game, but those numbers may be skewed as Washington has trailed a lot late in games.

ODDS: Oddsmakers have made the Patriots the obvious favorite in this game. New England has been given a point spread of -9 at Washington on Sunday. The over/under odds have been set at 47.5 points for this afternoon tilt.

TRENDS: Trends show that the total has gone over in 17 of the last 23 games for the Patriots but gone under in 6 of the last 9 home games for the Redskins. In terms of covering the spread, the Patriots are 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 following a failed cover. Washington is just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as an underdog.
