Broncos vs. Raiders NFL Week 9 Odds
(The Spread) – AFC West rivals clash in Oakland this Sunday when the Raiders host the Broncos at 1:00PM ET.
DENVER: One week after pulling off a miracle come-from-behind win against the Dolphins, Tim Tebow and the Broncos were absolutely humiliated by the Lions last Sunday. Their 45-10 loss to Detroit dropped Denver’s record to 2-5 on the year and 2-5 against the spread. Despite his brutal performance, coach John Fox will not bench Tebow for this Sunday’s game against the Raiders. That said, another turnover-laden game and Denver is likely to bench him moving forward.
OAKLAND: The hope in Oakland is that Carson Palmer will get into football shape quickly and be ready to lead the Raiders this Sunday. Oakland is in the thick of things in the AFC West and needs a win this week against a Denver team that is extremely beatable (with or with Tebow at quarterback). The Raiders should be fresh coming off their bye, although the team certainly had plenty of things to iron out after Kansas City blasted them 28-0 in Oakland two weeks ago.
ODDS: The Raiders opened as 7-point favorites but the line is already up to 9 points at most books. That might be because the public is strongly backing the Carson Palmer-led Raiders, or the fact that Denver has said its sticking with Tim Tebow at quarterback. The over/under total for this contest is currently sitting at 42.5 points.
TRENDS: The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams while the under is 4-0 in the Raiders’ last four games versus the AFC. The underdog is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams while the road team is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings. The Broncos are 0-4 against the number in their last four games against the Raiders.
