49ers vs. Redskins NFL Week 9 Odds
(The Spread) – Two teams heading in opposite directions will clash in Washington on Sunday when the Redskins host the 49ers at 1:00PM ET.
SAN FRANCISCO: The 49ers just keep winning under first-year coach Jim Harbaugh. Their 20-10 victory over the Browns last Sunday pushed San Fran’s record to 6-1 on the year as it continues to run away with the weak NFC West. The Niners are also 6-0-1 against the spread, making them the only team in the NFL to have covered or pushed in every single one of their games. The defense continues to dominate opponents on a weekly basis, as rookie Aldon Smith has 6.5 sacks and Carlos Rogers has three picks.
WASHINGTON: The Redskins’ 3-1 start is nothing but a distant memory at the moment. Mike Shanahan’s squad has lost three in a row and has been outscored 76-33 during that period. The team continues to have issues at quarterback and the running game has suffered as well without Tim Hightower (knee/out for the season). Santana Moss will also continue to miss time after having surgery on his hand. Washington’s 23-0 loss to Buffalo in Toronto last Sunday dropped the Redskins’ record to 3-4 on the year and 3-4 against the spread.
ODDS: The 49ers opened as 4.5-point road favorites but the line has since dropped to 3.5. That’s a little peculiar given how public bettors will certainly swoon to San Francisco whether the line is 4.5 or 3.5. Outside of one push, the Niners have covered every week while the Skins have been a small disaster the past three weeks. The over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 37.5 points.
TRENDS: The favorite is 2-0-2 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams while the 49ers are 0-2-2 ATS in their last four games versus the Redskins. Washington is 7-16-2 ATS in its last 25 home games while the Niners are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games versus the NFC.
