World Series Game 3 Opening Odds
(The Spread) – With things tied at one game apiece, the 2011 World Series heads to Texas for Game 3.
For eight innings on Thursday night, everything was going right for the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 2. Jaime Garcia pitched seven strong innings before manager Tony La Russa lifted him in the bottom of the seventh for pinch hitter Allen Craig, who promptly singled home the Cardinals’ lone run on the night. But a win would be just out of grasp for St. Louis.
The Rangers rallied with two runs in the top of the ninth when Ian Kinsler singled to lead off the inning and then stole second base with Elvis Andrus up to bat. Andrus then singled to move Kinsler to third and advanced to second when the ball got past cutoff man Albert Pujols. Kinsler then scored on Josh Hamilton’s sacrifice fly, which also moved Andrus to third base. Andrus then scored on Michael Young’s sac fly and the Rangers shut the door in the bottom of the inning to escape St. Louis with a 2-1 victory and a 1-1 split in the series.

With the series now shifting to Texas, odds makers have installed the Rangers as -182 money line favorites in Game 3 on Saturday night. The Cardinals find themselves as +171 money line underdogs tonight, while the over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 9.5 runs.
Kyle Lohse will take the mound for the Cardinals and will oppose Rangers’ starter Matt Harrison. Lohse has started two games in the postseason, dropping both while allowing eight runs on 13 hits over 9.2 innings of work. Harrison also made two starts, winning one (a 4-3 affair at Tampa Bay in the ALDS) and earning the no decision in the other (a 7-3 victory over the Tigers in the ALCS).
Game 3 can be seen on FOX with the first pitch set for 8:05PM ET.
