Rangers vs. Cardinals Game 2 Odds
(The Spread) – After a thrilling victory in Game 1 on Wednesday night, the Cardinals look to open a 2-0 lead in the 2011 World Series with a win tonight.
Chris Carpenter picked up the win in Game 1, throwing six innings of five-hit ball while allowing two earned runs and striking out four. C.J. Wilson took another postseason loss for the Rangers, as he allowed three earned runs on four hits over 5.2 innings of work. Jason Motte pitched a perfect ninth to record the save as St. Louis went on to win 3-2.
Despite their win in Game 1, Oddsmakers have installed the host Cardinals as +103 money line underdogs against the Rangers in Game 2. With Colby Lewis on the hill, Texas is a –109 money line favorite against Jaime Garcia in St. Louis tonight.
Lewis finished the regular season with a 14-10 overall record and a 4.40 ERA over 200.1 innings pitched. In his two postseason starts this season, he allowed one run on one hit in a 4-3 win over the Rays in the ALDS but was lit up for four runs on eight hits in a 5-2 loss to the Tigers in the ALCS.
Garcia already has three postseason starts under his belt, but unfortunately he doesn’t have a win to show for those three games. He lost a 3-2 affair to the Phillies in the NLDS when he allowed three runs on six hits over 7.0 innings of work. He took another loss in the NLCS against the Brewers, allowing six earned runs on six hits over 4 innings in 9-6 loss in Milwaukee. He bounced back later in the series as the Cardinals beat the Brewers 7-1 but Garcia didn’t get the win because he was pulled after 4.2 innings.
The first pitch for Game 2 is set for 8:05PM ET and the game can be seen on FOX.
