2011 NFL Week 6 Odds & Point Spreads: Jaguars vs. Steelers on CBS

Jaguars vs. Steelers NFL Week 6 Odds

(The Spread) – AFC opponents square off in Pittsburgh on Sunday when the Steelers host the Jaguars at 1:00PM ET in Week 6.

The Jaguars have struggled since rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert took over for Luke McCown at quarterback. The Jags are just 1-4 on the season after beating the Titans in Week 1 of the season and have failed to cover in four straight games. They’re one of the only teams that has had the under cover in more of their games than the over, as the combined score has fallen under the total in four of their first five games.

The Steelers got back on track last Sunday with a convincing 38-17 victory over the Titans after dropping their previous game to the Texans. Pittsburgh is now 3-2 on the year, although it has failed to cover in three of its five games this season. The over has hit in three of the Steelers’ five games in 2011.

Oddsmakers have installed the host Steelers as 12.5-point favorites over the Jaguars in Week 6, while the over/under total for this game is currently 40.5 points. The point spread opened at 12.5 at the Las Vegas Hilton, so clearly oddsmakers haven’t been swayed by the action on either side and may wind up with good two-sided action leading up to kickoff.

According to latest NFL trends, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams in Pittsburgh and 4-1 in the last five meetings overall. The Jaguars are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 meetings overall while the home team is 15-6 ATS in the last 21 meetings. The underdog, meanwhile is 7-0 against the number in the last seven meetings.
