2011 NFL Free Picks & Predictions for Week 2

NFL Week 2 Predictions

(The Spread) – Following a successful first week, here are our top four plays for Week 2 in the NFL.

We finished 3-1 in Week 1, as the Eagles, Bengals and 49ers covered the spread in their respective games. The only game we missed on was a blowout, unfortunately, as the Peyton Manning-less Colts were clearly no match for the Texans in Houston. Below are our top four selections for Week 2 in the NFL.

Cardinals @ Redskins, 1:00PM ET

According to latest NFL trends, the Redskins are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games overall and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four versus the NFC. They’re also 6-2-2 ATS in their last 10 games versus a team with a winning record and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous contest. The Cardinals, meanwhile, are 1-4 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games. They’re also 1-7 in their lat eight games as a road underdog and after allowing rookie quarterback Cam Newton to throw all over them, Rex Grossman should have a decent day on Sunday at home.

Raiders @ Bills, 1:00PM ET

Seeing as how the Raiders are coming off a short week and are taking on a Bills team that looked so good in their opener, it’s no wonder why the majority of bettors favor Buffalo in this game. But things shouldn’t click as easy for Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bills’ offense this week, as they take on an underrated Oakland defense. The Raiders are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the Bills, while the road team is also 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams. Buffalo is just 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games following a straight up win and 8-22-2 ATS in its last 32 home games versus a team with a winning record.

2011 NFL Week 2 Free Pick: Oakland Raiders +3

Packers @ Panthers, 1:00PM ET

Aaron Rodgers should have a field day with the Jon Beason-less Panthers’ defense, which struggled last weekend in Arizona. Don’t expect Green Bay to continuously blitz Cam Newton like the Cardinals did either. Dom Capers will put together a scheme that will confuse the rookie and lead to great field position for the Packer offense. The Packers are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six road games against the Panthers, while the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six overall meetings between these two teams.

2011 NFL Week 2 Free Pick: Green Bay Packers –10

Chiefs @ Lions, 1:00PM ET

Everyone is high on the Lions right now, and for good reason. But this point spread is inflated because of the stark difference between the two teams’ performances last Sunday. The Chiefs are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games against the Lions, who are 9-23 ATS in their last 32 games as a favorite of between 3.5 and 10 points. Detroit is also 1-4-1 ATS in its last six games in Week 2 and 1-5 ATS in its last six games as a home favorite of 3.5 to 10 points. Look for a better effort out of Todd Haley’s bunch on Sunday.

2011 NFL Week 3 Free Pick: Kansas City Chiefs +7.5
