The Saints opened the season with a 42-34 loss to the defending Super Bowl Champs, the Green Bay Packers. The game was an offensive showdown as the two teams combined for 876 total yards of offense. Drew Brees was 32-of-49 passing for 419 yards and three touchdowns in the game, but the Saints also allowed more than 300 yards passing to Green Bay quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
