San Diego was 9-7 last season and finished one game out of first in the AFC West Division. Minnesota was a disappointing 6-10 last season in the final year of Brett Favre’s career. The teams have alternated wins and losses over the last five meetings.

Trends show that the Vikings are just 1-9 against the spread in their last 10 games as an underdog and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games. San Diego has covered the odds in 5 of their last 7 games on grass.

San Diego had one of the top offenses in the league last season, as the Chargers averaged 27.6 points and 395.6 yards per game. They had the top passing attack in the league behind the arm of Philip Rivers, who threw for 4,710 yards and 30 touchdowns with just 13 interceptions. On defense, San Diego held teams to just 20.1 points and 271 yards per game. The Chargers were one of the top rushing defenses last season, giving up just 93.8 yards per game on the ground.

Minnesota averaged just 17.6 points per game last season and 314.9 yards. The Vikings struggled to find a consistent passing game, but were strong on the ground behind Adrian Peterson. Peterson ran for 1,298 yards and had a total of 13 touchdowns. The Vikings gave up 21.8 points and 312.6 yards per game.

In terms of Injuries, Minnesota defensive tackle Kevin Williams is suspended for the game while cornerback Cedric Griffin is questionable with a hamstring injury. San Diego receivers Patrick Crayton and Malcolm Floyd are both questionable for the game with varying injuries.
