Dallas Cowboys 2011 Season Odds
(The Spread) – Now that Tony Romo is healthy again, can the Dallas Cowboys rebound in 2011?
The Cowboys were a train wreck in 2010. Romo suffered a season-ending shoulder injury which derailed the offense and the majority of the players quit on former head coach Wade Phillips (who was fired and replaced by Jason Garrett during the season). The end result was a 6-10 finish after many pundits predicted the Cowboys to win the NFC East.
But they have new life heading into 2011 and with Romo back under center, there’s no reason to think the ‘Boys can’t rebound this season. Along with Miles Austin, Felix Jones, Jason Witten and Dez Bryant, Romo will have plenty of weapons to use in Garrett’s high-powered offense.
The Cowboys were rather quiet in free agency, but they did re-sign Austin and offenisve tackle Doug Free, as well safety Gerald Sensabaugh. The addition of safety Abram Elam will certainly help strength what was a brutal secondary in 2010.
In the draft, the Cowboys upgraded their offensive line with the selection of USC tackle Tyron Smith with the No. 9 overall pick. They also added another quality linebacker in Bruce Carter (who may not play much this season coming off an injury but should help Dallas down the road) and a playmaker in Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray.
Oddsmakers currently list the Cowboys’ odds to win the 2012 Super Bowl at 18/1 and their odds to win the NFC Conference at 9/1. They’re also +300 to win the NFC East, which puts them right behind everyone’s chic pick, the Eagles (-140).
