Denver Broncos 2011 Season odds
(The Spread) – Whether it’s Kyle Orton or Tim Tebow who takes the snaps this year, the Broncos are viewed as long shots to win the 2012 Super Bowl.
Oddsmakers currently list Denver as an 80/1 long shot to win this season’s Super Bowl, which gives the Broncos the same odds as the lowly Cleveland Browns. The Broncos are also 40/1 long shots to win the AFC and +1200 long shots to win the AFC West.
The Broncos didn’t make a huge splash in free agency but they did sign running back Willis McGahee (Ravens), defensive lineman Ty Warren (Patriots), and defensive end Derrick Harvey (Jaguars). They also successfully re-signed cornerback Champ Bailey, kicker Matt Prater, and defensive lineman Marcus Thomas.

New head coach John Fox certainly has his work cut out for him in Denver this season. He takes over a roster that is largely devoid of elite talent thanks to the trading of quarterback Jay Cutler (Bears) and Brandon Marshall (Dolphins) over the past three seasons. Fox was known for getting the most out of his talent in Carolina and that bodes well for a Broncos team that does have some scattered talent. But Fox is going to need a year or two to bring in the players that fit best in his system.
Orton will likely be the starter this year in Denver, which makes the Broncos slightly more competitive than they would if Tebow took over the reins. Orton has more experience and if he has enough playmakers around him, he can be a reliable NFL starter. The problem is that he doesn’t have a lot around him and the Broncos will most likely muddle around the middle of the AFC West this season.
