Date: Super Bowl XLVI will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2012.
Location: Indianapolis will host the 2012 Super Bowl for the first time in the title game’s existence. This marks only the fourth time a Super Bowl will be held in a cold-weather city (Pontiac, Michigan hosted the 1982 Super Bowl, while Detroit, Michigan hosted the ’06 Bowl and Minnesota hosted the ’92 Bowl).
Time: Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30PM ET.
Stadium: Lucas Oil Stadium will be the site of the 2012 Super Bowl, which is the home of the Indianapolis Colts. For the second year in a row, the game will be held indoors on turf.
Network & Announcers: NBC will be the TV network that shows Super Bowl XLVI, while Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will be the announcers. Michaels and Collinsworth broadcast the NBC Sunday Night Football telecasts during the regular season.
Odds: Oddsmakers have installed the Patriots as a 3.5-point favorite over the Giants, while the over/under total has opened at 55 points.
National Anthem: Kelly Clarkson
Halftime Performance: Madonna with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj.
Opening Performance: Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.
General Game Info: this will be the 46th annual edition of the Super Bowl, and the 42nd annual championship game of the modern-era NFL. If the league can avoid a lockout and the game is played as scheduled, then February 5, 2012 will be the date of the game. If there is a work stoppage, then the date will likely be pushed back. As of this writing, no CBA deal has been agreed upon and a lockout is set to commence on March 4, 2011. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 in the 2011 Super Bowl, covering as a 3-point favorite. The combined score went over the posted total of 46 points.
