Below is the public’s top 5 for Week 8 in the NFL. You’ll find the team they like, the point spread for that game, the percentage of the public that is backing them and the number of wagers in parenthesis.

Top 5:

  1. Rams –1 74% (51,111)
  2. Steelers +1 72% (56,558)
  3. Bucs +3 72% (43,253)
  4. Redskins +2.5 70% (63,397)
  5. Dolphins +1 70% (54,489)

This is the first week that the public has liked multiple underdogs, nevertheless four underdogs. The Rams are the lone favorite that the public likes in Week 8 and why not? Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made St. Louis a 1-point favorite over the brutal Panthers, who did pick up their first win last week but are playing a Rams team that has been incredibly confident at home.

It’s not surprising the public favors the Steelers, who are 1-point dogs at the Saints on Sunday Night Football. New Orleans is coming off a loss at home to the Browns, while Pittsburgh hasn’t lost since Big Ben has returned. That said, the Steelers are hitting the road for the second straight week and while their defense could give the banged up Saints’ offense trouble, be cautious of Pittsburgh being road weary.

The Bucs have been one of the big surprises so far this season and the public is backing them to cover a 3-point spread in Arizona today. The Cardinals are a struggling bunch, but they’re tough at home – as proof of their win over the Saints a couple of weeks ago. Rookie quarterback Max Hall is back under center after suffering a concussion last Sunday in Seattle.

The Redskins travel to Detroit today and even though the Lions will get Matthew Stafford back, the public clearly favors Washington at +2.5. That said, this is the second road test that the Redskins have faced in as many weeks and they have their bye coming up next week. Can the Lions catch the Skins flat-footed?

The Dolphins lost to the Steelers last week amid a controversial call at the end of the game. But the public likes them today in Cincinnati as a 1-point underdog. Miami has played well on the road this year and if they want to keep close to the Jets and Patriots in the AFC East, they need a win today.
