New England enters this matchup with a 4-1 record, although its only covered in two of those five games with one push. The Pats are 1-1 on the road this year with a 1-1 ATS mark as well.
San Diego is a surprising 2-4 this season and has failed to cover in four of its first six games. The Bolts are 2-0 at home, however, and have covered in both of those games.
Our Pick:
There’s no question that the Chargers have been dismal at times this year, but they’ve looked like a completely different team at home. Granted, those wins were over the Cardinals and Jaguars, but they were impressive nonetheless. The Bolts are 6-1 against the number in their last seven games following an ATS loss, while the Patriots are 1-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record. They’re also 0-4-1 ATS in their last five games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous outing.
Our pick is San Diego minus the points. It’s never easy for an East Coast team to travel cross-country and play on the road – especially against a good home team like the Chargers. We think San Diego figures things out this weekend and gets a big win over a playoff contender in New England.
