NFL Week 6 Picks & Predictions

As oddsmakers are starting to get a better feel for the teams, it gets harder and harder to find winners in the NFL. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some values to be had. Read on to check out our 2010 NFL Week 6 Picks & Predictions.

We will release free picks for all 14 games in Week 6 of the NFL, which you can find in our NFL Articles section. Below are our top 4 picks for this Sunday.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears, 1:00PM ET

Even in their playoff days, the Seahawks have always been one of the worst road teams in the NFL. There’s no reason to believe that things will change this weekend in Chicago when they play a tough Bears’ defense and a team getting its starting quarterback back off a concussion. The Hawks are 0-7 against the spread in their last seven games on grass and 0-4 in their last four outings in Week 6. They’re also 0-6 as a road underdog of 3.5-10 points in their last six games. Our pick is the Bears, who should clamp down on Seattle’s lackluster offense, although the Seahawks’ running game does get a boost with the addition of Marshawn Lynch (acquired via a trade two weeks ago). Still, the Bears’ run defense is solid and should limit Lynch’s production this week.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans, 1:00PM ET

The Chiefs’ defense will keep them in most games, but their offense has been brutal. The Colts exposed them a bit last week and even though Kansas City had a couple opportunities to score (and if not, win), it failed to do so. That said, Houston’s defense has been equally bad and the Texans are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games in Week 6. We see the value in Kansas City because again, their defense will keep things close. The Chiefs are also 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as an underdog and 4-1 ATS in their last five against the AFC. Our pick is Kansas City plus the points.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings, 4:15PM ET

The Vikings are the pick here. It looked like their offense started to turn a page in the second half on Monday night against the Jets and with Randy Moss now in the fold, they should be explosive again soon (assuming Brett Favre doesn’t give the game away with all of his turnovers). The favorite is 8-0 against the spread in the last eight meetings between these two teams, while the home team is 5-1 ATS in the last six matchups. The Cowboys are just 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against the Vikings and 0-5 ASTS in the last five meetings in Minnesota.

Oakland Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers, 4:05PM ET

The Raiders don’t have good overall numbers against the Niners, but San Fran shouldn’t be favored by 6.5 points over anyone right now. They’re a poorly coached football team and they seem to lack direction. They’re 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games as a favorite and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games in October. The Raiders aren’t the picture of perfection themselves, but they’ve been more competitive than the 49ers this year and as long as they don’t make mistakes, they should escape San Francisco with at least a cover, if not an outright win.
