Falcons vs. Browns Free Pick

After two last-second wins the past two weeks, the Falcons hope that they’ll have an easier time this Sunday against the one-win Browns. Read on to check out our free pick for this Week 5 matchup.

Before we get to our pick for this game, let’s take a look at the odds.

Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have made the Falcons a 3-point road favorite over the Browns in Week 6. The over/under total for this game has been set at 40.5 points.

When reviewing the opening line for this game, I was a little surprised to see that the point spread was so low. But given the fact that the Falcons could have easily lost to the winless 49ers last Sunday if it weren’t for an incredible play by Roddy White (who stripped Nate Clements after it appeared that the 49ers would seal the game on his interception) and the Browns are at home, I think the line is set right here.

The Browns are also 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 games overall and 5-1 against the number in their last six home games. They’ve also had the Falcons’ number of late, winning three of the last three matchups and covering in every one of those games.

That said, the Falcons got their wake up call last week against the Niners. They took an inferior team for granted and they were fortunate to escape with a win. This week, we should see a more focused Atlanta team, especially since they’re playing on the road.

The Pick:

Jake Delhomme is supposed to be back under center for the Browns this week and that spells outstanding news for the Falcons. Seneca Wallace isn’t the second coming of Dan Marino in the pocket, but he can move around a little and keep plays alive with his feet. If Delhomme starts, the Falcons will be playing an immobile quarterback who makes bad decisions with the ball and hasn’t played in three weeks. Atlanta’s defense is fast and aggressive and should have no problem creating havoc for Delhomme. Lay the points – my pick is the Falcons.
