Chargers vs. Chiefs Updated Odds
AFC West rivals clash tonight on Monday Night Football when the Kansas City Chiefs host the San Diego Chargers. Read on for a preview of the game.
Game Preview:
The Chargers enter the 2010 season looking to defend their AFC West crown. They won the division last year and figure to do so again this season with the rest of the division looking weak on a whole. Philip Rivers returns as quarterback, although he’ll be without his No. 1 playmaker in receiver Vincent Jackson (contract dispute). Also gone is long-time running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who signed with the Jets this offseason.
There’s a ton of pressure on Todd Haley and Matt Cassel to ensure that the Chiefs are more competitive in the 2010 than they were in 2009 when they only won four games and finished at the bottom of the AFC West. The hope is that guys like Cassel, Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe will step up under new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and be somewhat of a force on that side of the ball. Defensively, this is still a relatively young core but they did gain some valuable playing experience last year.
