Game Preview:

This game obviously took on another meaning when Brett Favre said he would return. Favre of course was the one that delivered the crushing blow to the Vikings’ Super Bowl chances last year when he threw an interception late in the fourth quarter of the NFC title game when Minnesota was approaching field goal range. The Saints won the game in overtime and then…well, we all know how their season ended.

Speaking of New Orleans, not much has changed for Sean Payton’s team. Their offense is going to be explosive once again this season thanks to Drew Brees and a slew of skill players. Defensively, the run defense is a question mark and so is the free safety position, but having coordinator Gregg Williams back is huge.

The Vikings will have to figure out a way to slow Brees and the Saints’ passing game without having a lot of playmakers in the secondary. If they can’t generate a pass rush with Jared Allen and Ray Edwards, then it’s going to be a long night.
