Updated NFL Week 1 Odds
NFL fans, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here: Week 1 of the 2010 season. Read on to get a quick preview and point spreads for this week’s slate of action.
Vikings at Saints, 8:30PM Thursday
The 2010 NFL season kicks off with a rematch of the NFC Championship Game last year when the Saints host the Vikings on Thursday night. Brett Favre will return to the scene where he threw a costly interception late in the fourth quarter to seal Minnesota’s fate and catapulted New Orleans into its first Super Bowl, which of course, the Saints won by beating the Colts. Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have installed the Saints as a 5-point favorite, while the over/under total for this game is sitting at 48 points.
Bengals at Patriots, 1:00PM Sunday
Two division winners from a season ago will lock horns in Foxboro on Sunday when the Patriots host the Bengals at 1 o’clock. Tom Brady is fully back from knee surgery and is once again looking sharp, but the Pats defense had issues in preseason that Carson Palmer and his duo of receivers – Chad Ochcocinco and Terrell Owens – may take advantage of. Oddsmakers list the Patriots as a 3.5-point favorite, while the over/under is sitting at 45 points.
Colts at Texans, 1:00PM Sunday
Why not come out of the gates and jump right into a huge division matchup? The Texans have had all kinds of problems beating the Colts over the years, but they get Indy on their home turf to kick off the 2010 season and a win would go a long way for building some momentum. Of course, Peyton Manning and crew isn’t going to lay down – especially to a divisional opponent. Oddsmakers have made Houston a 1.5-point underdog for this content, while the over/under is 47.
Packers at Eagles, 4:15PM Sunday
Huge matchup in Philly this week as two playoff contenders will square off at Lincoln Financial Field. The Kevin Kolb era has begun and a new-look Eagles team will try to slow Aaron Rodgers and a potent Green Bay offense. Oddsmakers have made the Packers a 3-point road favorite in this game, while the over/under is currently 47.5.
Ravens at Jets, 7:00PM Monday
How about this matchup to kick off Monday night football? The Jets will welcome back cornerback Darrelle Revis this week, which has held out for over 35 days this offseason while seeking a new contract. Both of these teams have high expectations heading into the new year and a win over a quality opponent in Week 1 is also nice to have. The Jets are a 2-point favorite in a game that should been tight throughout.
