2010 NFL MVP Odds
The 2010-11 NFL regular season MVP odds have been released and it’s no surprise to see Peyton Manning is the opening favorite to win the award.
Manning compiled a 99.9 QB rating last year while throwing for 4,500 yards and 33 touchdowns. More importantly, he led the Colts to a 14-2 regular season record and a Super Bowl appearance before falling to the Saints in the NFL’s biggest game of the year.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com currently lists Manning at +500 on the money line to win the regular season MVP award this season. His odds are followed by Drew Brees (Saints) at +700, Tony Romo (Cowboys) at +800 and Philip Rivers (Chargers) and Tom Brady (Patriots), who each are +1000 to win.
Brees led all quarterbacks last year with a 109.6 QB rating while throwing for 4,388 yards and 34 touchdowns. As previously mentioned, he also led the Saints to their first ever Super Bowl appearance, where he completed 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Colts.
Romo was equally impressive as Manning and Brees, and even threw for more yards than Brees, Brady, Rivers and Aaron Rodgers. He finished the season with a 97.6 QB rating, threw for 4,483 yards and 26 touchdowns. Many pundits like the Cowboys to emerge out of the NFC this year and if they do, Romo would no doubt be a huge part of their success.
One sleeper candidate this year that bettors should keep an eye on is Rodgers, who is +1200 to win the MVP. Although his Packers came up short in the playoffs last year, he finished with a 103.2 QB rating and also threw for 4,434 yards and 30 touchdowns. He’s part of an offense that will score plenty of points in 2010 and a team that is a serious Super Bowl contender.
Another sleeper to watch for is Titans’ running back Chris Johnson, who is +1500 on the money line to win this year’s MVP. Johnson is the most dynamic back in the NFL and crushed all other RBs last year by rushing for 2,006 yards on 358 attempts. Now that his contract dispute with the Titans is behind him, CJ is in store for a huge third season.
