With a backfield that features dynamic runner Chris Johnson and a rejuvenated Vince Young, the Tennessee Titans have high hopes for 2010.

The Titans got off to a horrific start in 2009 by losing their first six games in a row. But after benching Kerry Collins and replacing him with Young following their BYE in Week 7, the Titans finished the season winning eight of their last 10.

That gave Tennessee encouragement heading into an offseason in which they added former Eagles’ linebacker Will Witherspoon and former Falcons’ cornerback Tye Hill in free agency. They also selected one of the top pass-rusher prospects in April’s draft with the 16th overall pick in Georgia Tech’s Derrick Morgan and also nabbed receiver Damian Williams and linebacker Rennie Curan in the third round.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com currently list the Titans at 40/1 to win the 2011 Super Bowl and 20/1 to win the AFC. They’re also +450 on the money line to win the AFC and have an over/under win total of 8.5 games this season.

The Titans could be one of the surprises in 2010, even though they got off to such a rough start last year. The key is Young, whom many people say has matured and is starting to become the quarterback the Titans envisioned he’d be when they drafted him in the top 5 a couple of years ago. Teamed with exceptional running back Chris Johnson, the Titans’ offense has big play capabilities.

That said, Tennessee also plays in the same division as the defending AFC champion Colts, the up-and-coming Texans and the improved Jaguars, so wins could be hard to come by. The Titans don’t have the best collection of depth either, so that’s cause for concern as well.

But at 40/1, they could be a team worth taking a long look at before the season. Their odds may never be more appealing.
