Doubles Luge is a race of trust and continuity, and will be an event that is closely followed at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
According to vancouver2010.com, the doubles luge event consists of two runs over one day, with the fastest total time determining the winner. All events in luge are timed to the thousandth of a second.
Defending Olympic silver medalists Andre Florschutz & Torsten Wustlich are favored to win the gold.
Florschutz & Wustlich have odds of 6/4 to win the gold medal in this event according to online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Patric Leitner & Alexander Resch (11/4), Andreas Linger & Wolfgang Linger (7/2), and Christian Oberstolz & Patrick Gruber (4/1).
The German team of Florschutz & Wustlich won a test event prior to the Olympics and were the 2006 Olympic silver medalists. This duo won the 2008 world championship as well as the 2005 and 2001 titles.
