Concealed Identity Preakness Odds
(The Spread) – Even though he has two straight wins under his belt, Concealed Identity remains a long shot to win the 2011 Preakness Stakes.
Odds: When oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com released the opening odds for the Preakness following Animal Kingdom’s victory in the Kentucky Derby, Concealed Identity was +1000 on the money line. But things have dramatically changed. Now the 3-year-old gelding is +2500 on the money line, which makes him the biggest long shot in this year’s field.
Race History: Concealed Identity did win his last two races and does have six outings under his belt. But he has yet to run against graded competition. He won the Federico Tesio on May 7 and an Allowance on April 15. He finished fifth at the Private Terms on March 19 and fourth at the Miracle Wood on February 26. He also finished fourth on January 29 at the Dancing Count and wont he Maryland Juvenile Championship back in December.
Outlook: One thing that may attract bettors to this horse is the fact that he is the gelded son of 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Smarty Jones. But it’s hard to know what to make of Concealed Identity seeing as how he hasn’t faced graded competition yet. He does have three career wins on his racing resume, but how will he fair against the likes of Animal Kingdom, Mucho Macho Man and Dialed In? Concealed Identity is one of the mysteries of this 2011 Preakness.
