NEW ORLEANS (The Spread) – Which team will win the coin toss when the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens battle in the 2013 Super Bowl this Sunday? Let’s check out the odds.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Ravens and 49ers both have odds of -105, respectively to win the coin toss. And what will the winning call be on the coin toss? The odds for “Heads” are -105 and the odds for “Tails” are also -105.

Will the team that wins the coin toss also go on to win the game? The odds for “Yes” are -115 while the odds for “No” are -115.

Last year the Patriots won the coin toss but elected to defer. The Giants wound up receiving the ball and went on to win 21-17 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. It was the first time in 14 years that the AFC won the coin toss.

Going back two years, the Packers won the coin toss, elected to defer and the Steelers wound up receiving. Pittsburgh eventually lost the game 31-25 when Aaron Rodgers completed 24-of-39 passes for 304 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

In the 2010 Super Bowl, the Saints won the coin toss, making it the 13th straight time that the NFC won the toss. New Orleans went on to beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 when Drew Brees picked apart Indy’s defense while throwing for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Tracy Porter also had the 74-yard interception return of Peyton Manning to clinch the win for New Orleans.

In the 2009 Super Bowl, the Steelers lost the coin toss to the Cardinals but won the game, 27-23.
